easy as pie

I am loving the fact that it took me all of 2 minutes to get dressed this morning.
I've had this navy wool coat from J. Crew for 5 years now, and every winter when I pull it out it seems just as good as new. The only thing it needs is a good dry cleaning soon, because the lining is a little spotty in some places. I suppose that's what happens when you wear something to to bars, parties, on drunken bike rides, and through the woods. The scarf is a recent present from my mom's friend, who is the VP of the medical college here, and I'm so glad I was gifted it now because it's amazingly soft, warm, and cozy. Striped button-down from J. Crew is about 6 years old, Levi's black label jeans from ebay, and Etienne Aigner loafers from Goodwill.

I'd seen lots of references to the blogger Dead Fleurette in the past, but it wasn't until yesterday that I read through some of her blog. Talk about commitment to minimalist perfection! This is her current wardrobe and it includes less than 30 items (with shoes and bags). And her commentary on the idea of minimalist style (i.e. that just because you bought a pair of Jil Sander trousers does not make you a minimalist if you already have 15 pairs of pants from the same designer) and tips for curating your wardrobe are spot on.

I arrived at her blog, incidentally, after a mad search for Isabel Marant jackets. Even though there are tons of IM diehards out there, I've always been lukewarm about the brand and don't really understand the craze, save for the Dicker boots which I would totally buy if I had $600 just lying around. But I am beginning to like the idea of a fitted wool tweed jacket with leather contrasting as a cozy but put together alternative to a blazer. We'll see how long this desire lasts...
