The year of the dragon hath arrived and I'm finallyyyyy done with the GREs. This meant that I got to escape down to New York last weekend to see old friends, gorge on food that will kill you (mmmm Pies'n'Thighs chicken biscuit sandwich), and catch a showing of the new Coriolanus film which is in such limited release for no apparent reason that I can think of except that maybe not everything is as Shakespeare-obsessed as I am. So all in all, a delightful weekend, and now I get to do it again this week. Tomorrow I'll be heading down to Swarthmore/Philly, aka my old stomping grounds for weekend 2.0 of friends, food, and dancing.
Today's the first day of February, which unfortunately means that I'll be leaving the womb that is home in a short 10 days to suffer through another 20+ hour travel day and inevitable jetlag. Here are some things that I've purchased lately to quell that dread.
Alexander Wang Julia shoes and Portolano cashmere gloves from Otte's super sale. Can't wait for warmer weather to wear these shoes out. The "espresso" colored leather is just the softest :)
Knitting scarves and admiring my Seiko moonphase watch also help.
The new year has meant some major upgrades in my tech life. I'm currently blogging for the first time from my new 11" Macbook Air. In line with my new portable lifestyle is the Kindle Touch. These two things combined weigh about as much as the new "archi-comic" book by Bjarke Ingels that I just bought. He's currently teaching a course at Yale's School of Architecture, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll just happen to run into him and get him to sign it. Sometimes I feel like I'm more enthusiastic about the Danes than the Danes themselves :P
Who knew that there's a great donut place right here in Wallingford, CT? After coming home from New York with half an old fashioned donut left from Pies'n'Thighs, I complained to my parents that there weren't ANY good donut places in Philly and that I doubted there were any New Haven. Looks like I was wrong. Even though I got to Neil's Donut Shop just before they closed, I managed to get a sampling of some wonderful treats. Coffee+donuts for lunch makes for a damn fine day.

Yum to those donuts! And yay for technology - lucky girl!
