thoughts and feelings on 2012, 2013

The past two months have been rough. I was happier than I had been in a long time, before it all came rubberband-ing back into general misanthropy and malaise. I suppose Dickens had it right all along, but considering that he wasn't talking about the personal life of a 20-something year old, I'd still like to put this out there.

I look happy as a clam after a successful haul of leather for crafting projects (photos/updates to come soon), but in reality I looked and felt like the following for much of the past two weeks. This, by the way, was my Halloween costume, and the fact that I haven't updated about it til now means that this blog has really been on the backburner for far too long.
I thought I had it in me to do a grand overview of 2012, but the truth is that I'm just a little bit too weary and ready to move on to 2013. It's the year of the snake, my 2-year college reunion, and my first visit to Shakespeare & Co. (if my summer plans work out). 2013 will be the year I finish all the books I have on my reading list, the year I finally learn how to bake bread, the year that I start keeping a journal again, and the year that I pare down my possessions so that I can move without breaking a sweat. I say these things every year, and my follow-through rate isn't great, but that doesn't mean I should give up, right?

I also made an appointment for a MAJOR hair change next weekend...stay tuned.

  1. Happy New Year, and good luck with everything--I wish you to realise all those plans! I just bought a fresh set of notebooks in the hope of starting a journal again (you know, because I ABSOLUTELY cannot start doing so again with an old notebook, hm hm), and hopefully will follow through with (at least) that one plan.

    1. Thank you so much, and happy new year to you too! I'm giving it my first go with bread baking tomorrow, although cheating slightly by using a bread machine. Updates soon :)

  2. Baking bread is a great skill, plus you'll probably end up joining the ranks of the obsessive bread makers (it's inevitable) who talk about it at parties... It's a good thing! Happy start to the year.

    1. Thanks for reading! I'm not sure if my schedule this semester will allow me to become obsessive, but I do tend to stress bake, so we'll see.
I've been enjoying the entries on your new blog too, btw.
